Shiv and Sawan -Staires by Stuti Rajeev

 Shiv and Sawan

An auspicious month that fills hearts with peace and minds with joy. It is superior among all the months. The reason behind everyone’s extreme jubilations in Sawan is the pleasant weather after long, scorching summers.

Shiv and Sawan

What is Sawan?

  • Sawan is not simply a month, it is an emotion and a blessing. The emotion of every living being. And almighty’s blessings to earth.
  •  Sawan is when rain quenches the thirst of brown earth turning it into a green blanket, which gives a soothing touch to every eye.
  •  Sawan is the answer to every questioning eye which looks towards the sky with hope throughout summers.
  •  Sawan is nature's lesson for every living being. It teaches us that tough-time can be long, but it is not everlasting. There is a bright sun-shine after every dark night. We must never lose hope in life.

How Sanatan Sanskriti (Eternal set of duties) defines Sawan?

Sanatan Sanskriti relates Sawan with lord Shiva. It is believed that Sawan is Shiva’s favorite month, and he is omnipresent. Hence, like every other living being, Sawan is special for Shiva also.

Lord Shiva is a symbol of anadi power, which means he has neither begun anywhere nor ended. Shiva’s power is symbolized by different things associated with him………

Shiva’s Symbols

  1. Ganga on Shiva’s head symbolizes a stream of spirituality. A spiritual person can easily get rid of different negativities in life such as wrath, lust, greed, anger, attachment, ego, etc. By being spiritual one can get to know the purpose of one’s life. Spirituality gives positive vibes and meaning to life, which is very important for every human being.
  2. Moon on Shiva’s head signifies stability of mind. It teaches us that our thoughts should be stable in the different ups and downs of life.
  3. Shiva’s third eye on his forehead symbolizes the power which everyone should have to destroy evil and ignorance respectively.
  4. Shiva’s trishool (a weapon with three sharp ends, prong ) signifies three powers. Power of knowledge, power of desire, and power of completeness. We can get, what we desire with knowledge and can ultimately feel the power of completeness. But the knowledge should be complete and true.
    Traits of Shiv

  5. Snake around Shiva’s neck teaches us that our ego and attitude should be in our control. We can get endless examples where we see that, whenever vanity accompanies strength, complete ruination occurs. We must make sure that after achieving anything or everything in life, our happiness should never be replaced with haughtiness.
  6. Rudraksha: Lord Shiva wears rudraksha seeds. It has lots of scientific importance. Keeping rudraksha near the body is good for health. It is antibacterial, its dielectric gives a positive attitude. Shiva’s rudraksha symbolizes purity and righteousness.
  7. Shiva’s Baghambar (Cloth made up of tiger’s skin) is a symbol of bravery, boldness, and confidence in life.
  8. Shiva's divine bull Nandi is the symbol of true and unconditional devotion towards the lord.

All these traits make an ideal person.

Sawan is ideal for months and teaches us to improve ourselves by following Lord Shiva.

Happy Sawan.\
